A gift guide can be narrowed by who the gift is for and by price

What is being checked

Whether the shop's gift guide or holiday collection lets shoppers narrow it down the way gift buyers think (who it is for, what it may cost), and whether it only shows products that can still be bought and arrive in time.

Why it matters

A gift buyer often does not know which product they want. They know who it is for and how much they want to spend. Normal categories are built around product types, which is the wrong starting point for them. A guide sorted by person and budget gives them a way in.

A gift guide full of sold-out products, or products that will arrive after Christmas, is worse than none. It wastes the shopper's time at the moment they have least of it.

Failure signals

• There is no gift guide or holiday collection.
• The gift guide is one long list without any way to narrow it down.
• Price ranges are missing, or they do not match the prices shown.
• Sold-out products are shown first, or are not marked as sold out.
• Products that cannot arrive before the holiday are shown without a note.
• The gift guide is only reachable from a banner that disappears on mobile.

How to verify

1. Find the gift guide from the main navigation, on desktop and on a phone.
2. Confirm it can be narrowed by at least two gift criteria, such as recipient, occasion or price range.
3. Choose a price range. Confirm all products shown are inside it.
4. Confirm sold-out products are marked as such, or are left out.
5. After the last order date (see GLOBAL-DC-CUTOFF-01), confirm the guide points out which products still arrive in time, or suggests gift cards.

Recommended fix

Build the gift guide as a normal collection with its own URL and filters for recipient and price range. Add it to the main navigation for the season. Sort available products first. Add gift cards to every price range, because they are the safe choice for late buyers.
